WHY ARE KNEE AND HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERIES COSTLY AT SOME CORPORATE HOSPITALS compared to others ???

I find patients coming into my opd with the most commonly asked question what is the cost , hospital x or y is doing it at much cheaper price .....
quality and standards of equipment come at a price which are available at the place i operate at (Apollo speciality hospital , jayanagar, bengaluru)-
1. laminar airflow stainless operation theater suites
2. space suit ventilation systems for surgeons and assistants - which significantly decrease the chance of contamination of wounds and infection (this is not available in most hospital)
3. exclusive theaters for joint replacement surgeries which is possible only in few hospitals in bangalore (where in i operate is one among them)
4. trained personnel in the ot
5. back up in the theater for plan b - with regards to implants and issues which we face on table( only available at high volume centers)
6. an excellent back up team of icu doctors , anaesthetists , intensivists , pulmonologists , cardiologist ,physicians and physiotherapist - which is critical when operating these surgeries .
so its important that one understands the cost which come with quality health care , in comparison to any country costs of joint replacement in india are hardly 1/5 or even lower .

What I advise my patients is to not compromise with the hospitals standards regarding the quality, when it comes to these surgeries as it does matter .

knee replacement surgery review of Dr deepak Inamdar by a U.K based sports physician

Knee Replacement review - posted by one of my patients copied from another platform -review by dr naveen Dr. Inamdar treated my father for his knee pain. From the outset the care provided by him was transparent , procedure and waiting period clearly explained. The surgery was carried out at Apollo hospital. The standard of care was top notch. He diligently followed up post surgery and appropriate rehabilitation was organised by his team. My dad is very happy with the outcome of the surgery and he is doing extremely well 1 year following the surgery. I would highly recommend him, with my professional background as a sports physician in the United Kingdom. Dr NAVEEN SPORTS PHYSICIAN 🇬🇧 UK
